Dr. Kerstin Lenk

Dr. Kerstin Lenk is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Neural Engineering at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz), Austria. She earned her PhD in Computer Science from Clausthal University of Technology, Germany, in 2016.

Her research combines computational neuroscience, bioinformatics, and experimental approaches to investigate astrocytes and neuron–astrocyte networks. Her team develops computational models of glial cells and analyses transcriptomic data, with applications to conditions including epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, and major depressive disorder.

Dr. Lenk previously held postdoctoral positions at TU Dresden and Tampere University, where she received an Academy of Finland postdoctoral fellowship at the latter. She is also the main proposer of COST Action CA25102, EU-GLIA, a European network advancing nervous-system health through glial-cell research and innovation.
