On 5 December 2025, Grzegorz Chodaczek and Patrycja Szałapska – representatives of the P4Health project team – participated in a conference at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw summarising the establishment of the Polish Cancer Mission Hub (PCMH) – the first national hub in Europe created under the ECHoS project to support the implementation of the EU Mission on Cancer.
The event brought together representatives of the scientific and medical communities, public administration, patient organisations and the innovation sector, providing a space for integrating all stakeholders involved in advancing modern oncology.
PCMH was established as a national collaboration platform based on the Penta Helix model, bringing together: the scientific community, clinicians, industry, public administration and civil society. Its objectives include:
• Supporting the implementation of the EU Mission on Cancer and the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan
• Initiating and coordinating activities in cancer prevention, diagnostics, treatment and innovation
• Strengthening the patient voice within the healthcare system
• Building bridges between Polish and European research and innovation initiatives
• Promoting health education and cancer awareness
• Creating long-term infrastructure for the development of research, new technologies and clinical trials
The communication strategy presented during the conference emphasised PCMH’s core values such as transparency, evidence-based credibility, inclusiveness, empathy, and a long-term, consistent approach to action.
The goals and ambitions of PCMH closely align with the mission of P4Health, which seeks to develop an integrated research and innovation ecosystem focused on:
• digital medicine and data integration
• support for translational research and advanced therapies
• building collaborative structures between science, clinical practice, patients and industry
• strengthening health literacy and education
• creating mechanisms that facilitate the uptake of innovation in the healthcare system
Both initiatives are grounded in cross-sector cooperation, a systemic approach to innovation and a strong focus on the real needs of patients and citizens. The synergy between PCMH and P4Health may become an important driver for advancing modern oncology in Poland and increasing the engagement of Polish institutions within the European research and innovation landscape.
